| you me at six & 30 seconds to mars| tour 2013

This feels like the first 'lifestyle' post in a long time, but hi everyone!
Last weekend me and one of my best friends had tickets for the you me at six & 30 seconds to mars gig in Birmingham! I don't know how it's taken me over a week to get round to writing about this (seriously, don't ask why, I loved it and couldn't wait to make this post).

Last Friday after a hectic rush and cancelling of meal plans, we headed to the NIA in town. Getting lost along the canal on the way and almost queuing up for over an hour for the standing area, we finally found where we needed to go and found our sears close to the stage. Although the photos make it look as if we were miles away we were very close.
I'd already seen you me at six on tour a few years ago and because of this I was so excited to see them again and honestly they didn't disappoint! They had so much enthusiasm and interacted with the crowd the whole performance (which makes it 10x better in my opinion). I watched and screamed and kind of felt like a proud mother, I have no other words about it except I enjoyed it so so much! Josh Franceschi was awesome and was showing so much love towards Birmingham (I know all bands do it in every city & venue) but it makes you feel that little bit special! They then shouted at the standing area for the lack of pits, but they were soon proved wrong and the Birmingham audience showed them how we do it!?...I probably shouldn't be so proud of mosh pits, but there something about the atmosphere that gets you going.
As I was in the seated area and not everyone was really there to seem them, I couldn't get as excited or jump around and sing as much as I'd hoped, so it was a little awkward not being able to do that to every song, and each song was amazing, a variety of songs from all their albums and introducing their latest song 'Lived A Lie' from their new album...they also announced they're doing another UK tour next year, so hopefully I manage to get tickets to that!
After a quick break, 30 Seconds to Mars begun and I had such high expectations for their performance and honestly they didn't disappoint! I found myself mesmerised that I was in the same room as Jared Leto which felt a little surreal but he's gorgeous, so you've got to understand. They played songs from all albums mainly their most popular/well known songs, which was great because I loved every single song, especially when the acoustic set started, ooft I was so happyyy guys!?
Again just like you me at six, they had so much interaction with the audience and hearing Jared say how much he loved England and Birmingham made me go slightly fan girl over him. It's always nice having the area you live in praised, especially when it's your favourite bands. He even pulled up two people from the audience, sat them down and performed an acoustic set right in front of them...oh to have been those people, also as part of their last song pulled over 20 people on stage and played a song from their latest album and I'm so gutted both times I couldn't get on stage. I've never been to a gig where they interact as much as I witnessed that night!
Both bands had the crowd turn on their phone touches to light up the arena (i know this happens a lot) but it's one of those moments you want to capture on camera but you just can't quiet get the right photo, but to me in kind of made the performance twice as special and I know it's lame but doing it with a sad song was beautiful!
(this is my all time favourite photo from the night...)
I'm seriously so proud of this photo, this was another moment that was hard to capture, but I think this did really well! It may sound weird but the balloons dropped so quickly it was like WOW!?
I took over 100 photos of the night and these were probably the best selection of what I took, due to my digital camera playing up and not wanting to focus and these were actually taken on my phone so great quality really.

Did anyone else go to see them during their tour? Did you go to the Birmingham gig? Or did not go but you wanted to go? Let me know, comments always welcome. I hope you enjoyed this post, hopefully I get round to making more lifestyle related posts especially over christmas.

  2. Loving the pictures, especially the balloon drop and lights! I always get so frustrated at gigs because I want to take so much video/photo footage, I end up watching most of it through my phone or camera lens - then when I get home, half the shots didn't turn out to be any decent! It's exactly what happened to me at Ben Howard, my phone seemed to lose all focus when the perfect shot set itself up on stage or in the crowd!

    1. Thankyou! The ballon drop is my favourite too.
It's terrible you want to be able to capture the moment so well, it's because the lights change so much cameras can't cope very well!
