The Christmas Tag.

THE CHRISTMAS TAG.

Firstly I want to start today's post with a little apology for going awol this week, I think the festive season has crept up on me, I've felt overwhelmed with blogmas, I've not been feeling great and I've been working and spending as much time with family and friends as possible. I came across this blog post from claudia saffron and thought it was a fun way to share some of my Christmas stories.

It's my final day at work today before three days off over Christmas, so I'm excited to finally get into that festive feeling, all my presents are wrapped, the remaining Christmas films are ready to be watched and I can't wait to indulge in as many hot chocolates as possible and this was a fun way to ease myself back into my blogging as well as getting me all excited for the weekend:

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I few days ago I shared all my Christmas favourites (here) and I share my reasons behind each favourite. I guess if you read the post you might find this a little repetitive but hey, oh well! I have three favourites. Home Alone (obviously), Eve's Christmas and Christmas in Boston.

Home Alone - for obvious reasons, it's a family favourite classic and we watch it as a family almost yearly. I watched the first one a couple weeks back (November 1st) but I'm yet to watch Lost in New York...but I'm hoping to do that over the next couple of days.

Eve's Christmas - Is one of my favourite purely for my story behind it! I've share this story many times before so I'll give you the shortened version. The woman (named Eve) gets to relive her past when she choose her career over her love. She gets a chance to change her happy ending. I was ill when I watched this so it was some to watch whilst I was having a duvet/sofa day. The film ended with snow and outside the window it snowed too - it's always felt like such a magical moment!

Christmas in Boston - This film follows a pen pal couple who have spoken since childhood but never met, I find the whole story unbelievably cute! I'm a true romantic at heart and as a teenager this was one of those films that just got to me. It was such a cute (yet predictable) film which I love watching almost 10 years on.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
We've always open presents on Christmas morning, roughly around 6am! Okay so it's more like 9am now but it's always incredibly early. We're not allowed to even peak at our presents until that morning...

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Thinking about it, not a specific one. I've always enjoyed the time I've got to spend with my family but one memory I do have was my first Christmas once I turned 18. Me and my three best friends at the time met up at the pub for a quick drink or two. A couple drinks and a few shots later we all headed home and celebrated Christmas with our families, although I've fallen out with two of the three lads I went with, it's a nice memory to look back on and remembering my first christmas as a legal drinking adult and finding that friends are as important at this time of year.

4. Favourite festive food?
Yes! Pigs in blankets - every time! To be perfectly honest the whole Christmas dinner is my favourite thing and all the chocolate I'm able to eat too!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Ever? Erm, I've had so many over the years. But there's two and they're actually from the same Christmas. Once year I was desperate for a pet kitten and it was the only thing I wanted, unfortunately my parents couldn't bring me a kitty over-night but after all my presents were opened they told me that they hadn't forgotten and that when it was possible I'd be getting a kitten yay! Little did I know he'd be an evil shit and still hate my 14 years on. This Christmas my nana also surprised me and my brother with an air hockey table for the house...we live in a fairly small home so you can image this took up a whole lotta space but at 10 years old it was the best thing ever!?

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Oh there's so many! Again two things stick out for me, mainly it's the candles I've been lighting for the past 3 years. From home bargains for £2.99 there selection is everything i image Christmas to smell like. I've also got this time about the scent of church on Christmas Eve, it just really gets me feeling that night before excitement.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
It's a weird one actually, because we have no Christmassy traditions on Christmas Eve. If you've been reading for years you may have read this before - but it's my brothers birthday on Christmas Eve so it's almost as those all festive feelings are put on hold for this day and we just celebrate Sean! Although the day tends to go like this: cinema > dinner > church > a possible late night takeaway!

8. What tops your tree?
A star? Is this what that questions means...anyway, I'm always in charge of tree decorating in the house. You can see how I've decorated the tree this year, here.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

Oh that's a tough one, because I can't actually remember. In the other question I said I'd asked for a kitten and I thought that was a pretty impossible gift but in the end it worked out for me. I think the main thing was I'd always ask for those over priced toy sets that my parents probably knew wouldn't be worth the money, but everyone had them so I'd be desperate to have them too.

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Oooh, this could go on forever... The time we get to spend together as a family. And over the years the time I've spent with my friends. The best part of Christmas and the one thing I've missed most about it this year is that smell in the air, the crisp cold weather and that overall excitement as we await the big day, I've felt that this year I've struggled to feel that same excitement which is making me quiet miserable. I'm hoping once I break up for work tonight (at 10pm) I'm suddenly hit with these feelings.

And there you have it, a short and sweet post today.
Last night I got to open some of my presents early, me and my two friends have a little on going tradition of friendmas and we ate Christmas dinner, listening to Christmas songs (had a good ol' bitch) and opened our presents. That definitely filled me with some festive excitement and I can't wait to share with you the gifts I received!
