MAC: Russian Red
Russian Red - £15.50.
I did a naughty thing...I brought one (okay, maybe two) new mac lipsticks. My excuse, my graduation, which is a pretty good reason if you ask me! I'd always had my heart set on wearing a red lip for the day, partically to do with the fact that all the information told us to wear clothing that would be simple and 'non ageing' for the years my photos will be around my house, and the beauty blogger in me said 'that means your makeup too'...and what's more time-less than a red lip! I've also been spending months finding a justifiable reason to purchase more mac lipsticks.

I was torn for choice as I was ordering online...I desperately wanted to swatch them all to decide. Torn between Russian red and Ruby Woo, I almost brought both, but I did that before with my first mac lipsticks and I now own two nude/pink lipsticks which look too alike I shouldn't of spend £30 on two of the same colours, oops! So I tried not to make that mistake again...though I could always buy Ruby Woo in the future, maybe?
Strangely all my mac lipsticks are matte (all, being this and 3 others)...and when purchasing this I was a little worried it would be too drying, I'm not sure why as I've had no trouble with the rest. While the finish of the colour on my lips is in fact matte, this definitely isn't drying...I can wear all day long without any trouble. The colour stays on my lips for a couple of hours, which is perfect for me as I'm always forgetting to touch it up, and the colour is a beautiful shade of deep red! A shade I associate with a vintage 1920's look, I mean would it be weird to say that I feel very 1920's when I wear it, like I should roll up my hair and such things...yeah probably just me!
I purchased this as I wanted a lip colour for a special occasion, as already mentioned, a time-less colour I'll enjoy seeing for many years and I think this is exactly what I needed! I'm already planning to wear this on events I haven't been invited to yet and I know it'll be the perfect colour to be wearing over the next few months!
Who else owns this colour and loves it as much as me? I'm beginning a mac wish-list for potential christmas ideas...which is your favourite mac lipstick?

I love Russian Red, it definitely is such a timeless colour! It kinda reminds me of Marilyn Monroe when I wear it xo

I love this lipstick! I wasn't sure about whether to get Russian Red or Ruby Woo either but went with Russian Red and am so happy with it. I have tried Ruby Roo and it's a little less of a cool red and a bit more drying but also stays a bit longer too. It's such a perfect red though!

You deserved to get some treats, I feel like i do too tbh seeing as I dont have any mac lipsticks haha- this shade has been high of my want list for a while and it really suits your skin tone xxx
ReplyDeleteRussian Red is one of my favorite red lipsticks! I love that it's matte but not drying. It's perfect for the holiday season. :)

I'm so jealous, though I'd love my collection to grow soon! I've not used liner with them before, I'll have to give that a go. Ah thank you!

Beautiful isn't it! Oh that's a good person to be reminded of, I think I will be feeling like that too now

I think it's my favourite now too! Wish I had more reasons to wear it though

It's difficult when lipstick colours are so similar in shade, and deciding which is perfect for you! I may purchase a few more colours and maybe attempt the ruby woo soon, it's still a lovely colour!

Thank you! Well I think you should treat yourself too, any excuse really. I think this would suit you too!

Oh exactly that! And I was worried it would be drying, but you're right perfect for the holiday season, think I know what I'll be wearing to christmas parties!

Good choice!! this is my absolute favourite MAC lipstick!
ReplyDeleteI own so many MAC lipsticks, they always last so well, especially with a liner on underneath too. This one looks great on you!
