Winter Makeup: Silver Shimmer

Hi everyone,

Just a quick one today, whilst everything is getting a little more festive over here at See the Stars, I've been struggling to find that sense of enjoyment. I'm usually filled with Christmas cheer well before December 1st - so imagine my concern as I've been struggling all week to find that festivity. I've been listening to Christmas songs since November and I've been prepping these posts since October too, so maybe that's a little reason behind me resembling scrooge this year. I've had a week off work so I've been doing as many festive activities as possible. I've decorated my families Christmas tree - alongside Tom's tree too. I'm the official decorator and take way too much pleasure in perfect that look of Christmas throughout the house (think Monica Gellar style Christmas decorating).

Not only am I switching up the house, I always use this time of the year to make everything a little more Christmassy...and yes, that include my makeup. Red berry lips, dark smokey eyes with a little touch of glitter and everything in between. I've been working on a couple of new looks this week already - but the lighting hasn't been great so I'll have to try and share those another time.

With this look I focused on keeping things simple with my based and making that more powerful attention to my eyes. I kept my based makeup normal with a subtle contours and added a nude lip. I want to purchase some more glitter for this month but I haven't got my hands on any yet - so instead I'm using all the shimmer shades from my makeup palettes. You should all know my love for the makeup revolution flawless palette it never leaves my side and it's usually the palette of choice when I've created a makeup look. I went in quiet heavy within the crease with darker shades. Firstly a shimmer golden/brown shade and then went into the outer corner with the glittering black shade to create that smokey effect. I then using one of the paler/silver shimmer shades for the highlight shade and made that the main focus colour. I'm in love with the contrast of the light and dark shades and with minimal makeup; it really gives it that attention. To finish the look I added some kohl eyeliner and lash effect mascara before applying the eyelure exaggerate* lashes. It's been a while since I used false eyelashes but these worked wonders - I'm acc obsessed with how much the lashes make a change to my eyes - I've got a couple of Christmas parties to attend this month, so I know these will make a reappearance for those!

I've recently had a complete hair makeup over which you may have already seen in my sunday summary post over the weekend and yesterday's harry potter tour post. With this change means a change in makeup routine too - I think this look works perfectly with the white blonde, but I'm excited to share an updated makeup look with my red hair!

  1. Well that makeup look is gorgeous and so are you! I love the items you used and I can see that you've given that palette some love! I always wanted to try a MR palette but wasn't sure how good they were- perhaps in may now give it a go. I'm trying to be as Christmasy as I can but its going so fast!! Cannot keep up! Thanks for such a lovely post!
